OUR METHODOLOGY

A clear view of robot dogs.

What the order means, where the data comes from, and how to read prices.

Selection, not a universal leaderboard

This directory selects 30 notable dog-like quadrupeds across industrial inspection, research, education and companionship. Wheel-legged robots and earlier generations are included and clearly identified. Different applications cannot fairly share one speed, payload or intelligence score.

How the catalog is ordered

We use an editorial evidence order: Customer use for named deployment evidence, Product catalog for an official product or developer platform, Pilot / early access for limited programs, In development for announced prototypes, then Earlier generation for selected legacy platforms. Names are sorted A–Z within each tier. Each profile links to its tier evidence. A catalog position is not an independently tested performance ranking.

The reference behind our comparisons

NIST Standard Test Methods for Response Robots provides a useful reference for assessing mobility, sensing, endurance and repeatable task performance. Our ordering is editorial; NIST has not ranked, tested or endorsed these 30 products for this directory.

Specifications without misleading comparisons

We use manufacturer pages, documentation and published technical sheets. Weight notes identify whether batteries or inspection payloads are included. Walking payload is kept separate from static or peak load. Speed and runtime include their stated conditions; laboratory maxima and standby time are not treated as typical working performance. “Not published” means a comparable figure was not verified for the configuration shown.

Read the price labels

Official means a manufacturer listing; Reported means a third-party published figure; Reseller means a seller listing and does not certify seller authorization. Past and Limited mark historical or restricted offers. Prices are entered manually with a source, configuration, market and review date. Deposits, financing installments and development budgets are not shown as robot purchase prices. If no purchase price can be verified, we show Contact for pricing.

“From” identifies a starting configuration, not a fully equipped package. Quotes may exclude shipping, tax, software, accessories and integration. Price sorting groups currencies without converting exchange rates. Confirm availability and final terms with the manufacturer or seller.

Maintenance and corrections

Every profile records when its sources were reviewed. Prices and specifications are snapshots, not live feeds. Product variants, regional features and service plans can change. Contact us with an official source if a listing needs a correction.
